Here are some of the most frequently asked questions we get when you are
having trouble.
Where is the User Manual?
Right here
How can I make my own maps?
You need to download
GPStools Studio and READ THE MANUAL! This will walk you through the
process of creating your own maps for your area.
Why can't I connect?
The most common reason for not being able to connect is the settings that were
sent to you were not entered properly. The ID and password are both case
sensitive. Also if you forgot to put the port value in correctly it will
not work either. It can take up to 1 minute to connect. If your
phone isn't in data mode, the software will put it there and then 30 seconds
later try to connect with the server again.
How come my map freezes and then catches up quickly?
If your map is freezing for a few seconds and then catching up it is usually
caused by having really large maps. If the maps you upload are 20 megs,
you will experience this if you are moving quickly. Use smaller maps or
make your layer2 map smaller in size (Megs). For instance, my Layer1 map
is 18 megs and freezes. My layer2 map is only 3 megs and doesn't freeze so
when I drive, I zoom out to the layer2 map. Layer1 maps are going to be
big in order to have the detail. layer2 maps don't have as much detail and
load much faster.
My GPS won't work!
The HTC 6800 Pocket PC is finicky when it come to the GPS. There are some
fixes out there for your phone on the internet. Search for "HTC 6800 gps
fix" or whatever your phone is. Some services such as Sprint lock
the GPS and make you pay for it. There are several hacks out there that
fix this.
